Vice President of Operations

An established, multi-site industrial manufacturing organization is seeking a Vice President of Operations to provide executive leadership across its manufacturing network. This role will lead operational strategy, manufacturing performance, continuous improvement, capital planning, and organizational scalability while partnering closely with the President and senior leadership team. The ideal candidate is a hands-on operations leader with experience managing complex, multi-site manufacturing environments and a strong background in operational excellence, process improvement, safety, quality, and financial performance.

Responsibilities

Executive & Operational Leadership
Provide executive leadership and strategic oversight for manufacturing and operational functions across multiple facilities.
Partner with the CEO and senior leadership team to develop and execute operational strategies supporting growth, scalability, profitability, customer satisfaction, and long-term business objectives.
Establish a culture of operational excellence, accountability, continuous improvement, safety, and employee engagement across all facilities.
Maintain a visible presence within manufacturing operations and provide hands-on leadership when business or plant conditions require it.
Lead plant operations through site leadership teams, focusing on productivity, efficiency, consistency, quality, and cost management.

Operational Excellence & Continuous Improvement
Lead initiatives focused on process optimization, manufacturing efficiency, material utilization, throughput, equipment performance, and reliability.
Establish operational KPIs, performance standards, and reporting processes to support data-driven decision-making and organizational alignment.
Drive continuous improvement and process engineering initiatives focused on preventive maintenance, yield improvement, waste reduction, process standardization, and profitability.
Identify opportunities to improve manufacturing processes, operating consistency, and overall plant performance.
Support root cause analysis, corrective actions, quality investigations, and technical problem-solving initiatives.

Cross-Functional Leadership
Partner closely with Engineering, Quality, Human Resources, Product Management, Commercial, and Finance teams.
Ensure manufacturing capabilities and operational strategies support product performance, customer requirements, and business growth.
Provide executive leadership and hands-on support for critical manufacturing, process, quality, customer, and operational issues.
Help build organizational capabilities, leadership talent, and workforce development strategies across manufacturing operations.

Capital Projects & Expansion
Lead operational planning and execution for capital projects, facility expansions, equipment upgrades, and manufacturing improvement initiatives.
Oversee capital expenditure planning and ensure investments support operational performance, scalability, reliability, and long-term business objectives.
Evaluate manufacturing capabilities, equipment, facilities, processes, and workforce requirements as part of expansion and investment initiatives.

Acquisitions & Integration
Participate in operational due diligence related to potential acquisitions and provide operational leadership throughout integration activities.
Evaluate manufacturing capabilities, facilities, equipment, processes, workforce requirements, systems, and operational risks.
Develop operational integration plans and help establish appropriate future-state operating models and performance expectations.
Partner with executive and cross-functional leadership to integrate acquired operations while maintaining business continuity.
Identify opportunities for operational synergies, standardization, scalability, cost improvement, and best-practice sharing across the organization.

Financial & Organizational Management
Oversee operational budgeting and manufacturing cost management.
Partner with Finance and executive leadership on capital planning, operational investments, and cost-control initiatives.
Support workforce planning, leadership development, and organizational capability building across the manufacturing network.
Use operational and financial data to identify opportunities for improved efficiency and profitability.

Required Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Operations Management, Manufacturing, Industrial Technology, or a related field.
10+ years of progressive operations leadership experience within industrial manufacturing, process manufacturing, construction materials, aggregates, mining, industrial minerals, or a related environment.
Proven experience leading multi-site manufacturing operations in a mid-sized industrial organization.
Strong background in operational excellence, process engineering, continuous improvement, and manufacturing optimization.
Experience with complex industrial processing, material handling, production systems, or similar manufacturing environments preferred.
Demonstrated success leading capital projects, facility expansions, equipment investments, and process improvement initiatives.
Strong financial and business acumen, including experience managing operational budgets, capital expenditures, manufacturing costs, and performance metrics.
Experience supporting acquisitions, integrations, organizational scaling, or multi-site operational growth preferred.
Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a lean, hands-on manufacturing environment while balancing strategic leadership with day-to-day operational execution.
Strong leadership, communication, problem-solving, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
