Senior Electrical Project Manager

A well-established electrical contracting company is seeking an experienced Senior Electrical Project Manager to oversee large-scale commercial and industrial projects from planning through completion. This role is ideal for an experienced electrical professional who understands field operations, can manage complex projects and teams, and is comfortable balancing schedules, budgets, customers, and project requirements. The ideal candidate will bring significant commercial or industrial electrical experience and the ability to work effectively with foremen, estimators, customers, general contractors, and internal leadership.

Responsibilities

Manage large commercial and industrial electrical projects from preconstruction through final completion.
Work with estimators and field leadership to review project scope, construction requirements, schedules, labor expectations, materials, equipment, and potential challenges before work begins.
Develop project execution plans and establish measurable milestones for field teams.
Monitor labor, material, and other project costs against established budgets and identify significant variances.
Maintain updated project cost projections and communicate potential budget concerns to leadership.
Develop and maintain short-term and long-range project schedules in coordination with field conditions and overall project requirements.
Coordinate manpower needs and adjust staffing plans as project schedules and site conditions change.
Ensure required materials, equipment, information, and resources are available to field personnel when needed.
Review potential scope changes, determine whether work falls outside the original contract, and work with estimating and field teams to prepare change orders.
Coordinate submittals and approvals to ensure materials and equipment meet project specifications and are approved before use.
Coordinate required inspections, permits, equipment start-ups, testing, and commissioning activities.
Maintain regular communication with owners, general contractors, construction managers, subcontractors, vendors, and field personnel.
Conduct regular jobsite visits to monitor progress, address challenges, and reinforce safety expectations.
Ensure required safety practices and personal protective equipment are being followed on project sites.
Assist with estimating smaller projects and other project-related opportunities as needed.
Maintain strong relationships with existing customers and work with company leadership and estimating teams to support future opportunities.
Coordinate with other project managers and service personnel when projects overlap or require additional resources.
Work with financial leadership on project reporting, forecasting, and financial performance.
Ensure project documentation, operating manuals, material information, and closeout requirements are completed accurately and on time.
Represent the company professionally when interacting with customers, employees, contractors, and other business partners.
Identify potential project issues early and work proactively with the appropriate teams to develop solutions.

Required Experience

Approximately 10 years of practical experience in commercial or industrial electrical construction, including experience as an Electrical Foreman, Project Manager, or in a comparable leadership position.
Demonstrated experience managing large-scale electrical construction projects.
Strong understanding of electrical construction methods, field operations, scheduling, manpower planning, materials, and project execution.
Experience managing project budgets, labor costs, projections, and financial performance.
Ability to understand project specifications, contract requirements, drawings, and scope of work.
Experience with change orders, submittals, project schedules, and construction documentation.
Ability to effectively lead and support field personnel while maintaining positive working relationships.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with customers, general contractors, subcontractors, estimators, foremen, and company leadership.
Strong organizational and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
Ability to work independently, make decisions, and take ownership of project outcomes.
Proficiency with standard project management and office technology.
Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to project sites as needed.
