Overnight Mechanic

We are seeking an experienced Diesel Mechanic II to join a busy fleet maintenance operation. This is a hands-on role for a technician who can independently diagnose and repair diesel vehicles, trailers, electrical and drivetrain systems, and related equipment. The ideal candidate brings solid troubleshooting skills, attention to detail, and the ability to handle more complex repairs with limited supervision. Experience with refrigerated trucks, trailer repair, liftgates, or HVAC/refrigeration systems is a plus.

Responsibilities

Diagnose and repair diesel engines, fuel systems, electrical systems, drivetrain components, and other vehicle systems.
Inspect and repair commercial trailers, including braking, suspension, lighting, structural, and mechanical components.
Repair or replace trailer components such as axles, bearings, hubs, lighting, and related parts.
Install, repair, and replace aftermarket equipment such as liftgates and ramps.
Perform preventative maintenance, including brake adjustments, tire replacement, lubrication, and air brake service.
Troubleshoot vehicle and trailer electrical issues and verify that electrical systems are functioning properly.
Perform maintenance and preventative repairs on refrigeration units and HVAC systems used in refrigerated equipment.
Use diagnostic tools and equipment to identify mechanical and electrical problems.
Test vehicles and equipment after repairs to confirm proper operation and quality.
Maintain accurate records of inspections, repairs, parts used, and equipment condition.
Follow applicable DOT, safety, and regulatory requirements.
Maintain tools and equipment in safe working condition.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
Apply primer, basecoat, and clearcoat finishes in a controlled paint booth environment when needed. Paint booth experience is preferred but not required.

Required Experience

High school diploma or GED.
2–5 years of diesel mechanic experience with demonstrated ability to perform more advanced diagnostics and repairs, or equivalent technical/vocational training and experience.
Strong knowledge of diesel engines, vehicle systems, trailers, and mechanical and electrical components.
Experience using diagnostic equipment and tools.
Ability to troubleshoot problems, identify root causes, and determine appropriate repairs.
Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality and safety.
Good communication skills and ability to work effectively with others.
Willingness and ability to learn new technologies, tools, and equipment.
Experience with refrigeration systems, HVAC, or commercial fleet equipment is a plus.
EPA Section 608 certification or other relevant refrigeration credentials are preferred.
Paint booth or automotive paint experience is a plus, but not required.
Valid driver’s license required.
