Accounting & Financial Reporting
Oversee the month-end close process for inventory, fixed assets, and other assigned accounting areas.
Ensure accurate account reconciliations and timely completion of monthly close deliverables.
Review financial information for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with applicable accounting standards.
Establish, maintain, and strengthen internal controls across accounting processes.
Research accounting issues and provide guidance on appropriate accounting treatment.
Support external audit activities by preparing documentation, responding to requests, and working directly with auditors as needed.
Inventory & Cost Accounting
Oversee inventory accounting and reporting processes.
Partner with Operations and other business teams to understand product costs, inventory activity, and cost variances.
Analyze inventory balances and identify potential excess and obsolete inventory reserves.
Evaluate inventory processes and reporting to identify opportunities for greater accuracy and efficiency.
Strengthen end-to-end inventory accounting processes and controls.
Analyze cost and variance information and communicate findings to appropriate stakeholders.
Collaborate with operational teams to improve inventory management practices.
Fixed Assets & Capital Projects
Provide accounting oversight and guidance for capital projects and fixed assets.
Monitor capital spending and ensure appropriate accounting treatment and reporting.
Support the tracking, reconciliation, and reporting of capital expenditures.
Assist with accounting research related to capital projects and fixed assets.
Partner with internal teams to ensure capital activity is accurately captured and reported.
Indirect Tax
Oversee indirect tax compliance and reporting activities.
Ensure accurate and timely preparation and filing of applicable sales and use tax and other indirect tax returns.
Support tax research, tax budgeting, and compliance initiatives.
Assist with governmental tax audits and provide supporting documentation as needed.
Monitor changes in applicable tax requirements and coordinate with internal and external resources when necessary.
Process Improvement & Collaboration
Partner with internal stakeholders to streamline accounting workflows and improve efficiency.
Identify opportunities to automate, standardize, and improve accounting processes.
Develop and implement process improvements that strengthen accuracy, controls, and reporting.
Build strong relationships with Finance, Operations, and other departments.
Communicate accounting information and recommendations clearly to both financial and non-financial stakeholders.
Leadership & Team Development
Supervise, coach, and develop a team of accounting professionals.
Provide guidance and support to team members while establishing clear expectations and accountability.
Assist with training and development initiatives to strengthen the team’s technical knowledge and capabilities.
Foster a collaborative and high-performing team environment.
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
MBA or advanced degree is a plus.
7+ years of progressive accounting or finance experience.
2+ years of supervisory or people-management experience.
Experience with inventory accounting, cost accounting, fixed assets, capital projects, and/or indirect tax.
Experience working within a complex organization with multiple business functions or locations is preferred.
Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP and financial accounting principles.
Experience supporting month-end close and financial reporting processes.
Experience with financial accounting systems and reporting tools.
Knowledge & Skills
Strong understanding of accounting principles, controls, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
Ability to research, interpret, and clearly communicate accounting positions.
Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel and strong proficiency with other Microsoft Office applications.
Experience using accounting/ERP systems and financial reporting tools.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work effectively with both Finance and non-financial business partners.
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and competing deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Strong organizational and project-management skills.
Proven ability to lead, coach, and develop accounting professionals.
Ability to identify process improvement opportunities and implement practical solutions.
