Field Technician

A well-established organization is seeking an experienced Facilities Technician to support the ongoing maintenance, repair, and upkeep of its buildings, equipment, and grounds. This hands-on position will be responsible for a wide variety of facility-related needs, including carpentry, electrical, plumbing, mechanical systems, equipment maintenance, and general building maintenance.

Responsibilities

Building & Equipment Maintenance
Perform routine and preventative maintenance on buildings, equipment, and facility systems.
Troubleshoot and repair plumbing, electrical, mechanical, carpentry, and general building issues.
Complete scheduled preventative maintenance activities and maintain accurate records.
Identify potential maintenance issues and follow them through to resolution.
Ensure repairs and maintenance activities are completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with applicable codes and standards.
Review equipment manuals, drawings, specifications, and other technical information as needed.

Special Projects
Assist with facility improvement, renovation, office construction, furniture installation, and other special projects.
Complete projects according to established timelines and quality standards.
Coordinate with internal personnel and outside contractors or vendors when needed.
Help identify opportunities to improve facility operations, reduce costs, and increase efficiency.
Safety & Compliance
Follow established safety and security procedures.
Participate in ongoing safety training and maintain awareness of facility safety requirements.
Properly handle and store maintenance materials and potentially hazardous substances.
Ensure work is performed in accordance with applicable building, electrical, plumbing, and safety codes.

On-Call / Emergency Support
Provide occasional after-hours support for facility emergencies and unexpected maintenance needs.
Respond to equipment failures, alarms, weather-related issues, and other urgent facility concerns as needed.
Take appropriate steps to stabilize an issue and complete the repair when within the scope of the position.
Coordinate with outside service providers or the appropriate internal resource when additional expertise is required.
Document after-hours work and communicate outstanding issues to management.
Documentation & Administration
Maintain accurate preventative maintenance and repair records.
Complete work orders and service requests in a timely manner.
Document completed work, identified issues, parts used, and recommended follow-up.
Assist with purchasing parts, materials, and outside services as needed.
Communicate maintenance updates clearly to supervisors and other internal stakeholders.

Teamwork & Customer Service
Work closely with employees, vendors, contractors, and other facility personnel to address maintenance needs.
Communicate professionally when responding to employee facility requests.
Work independently with minimal supervision while also collaborating effectively with others.
Adjust priorities and schedules as needed to respond to emergencies or changing operational needs.
Manage multiple projects and maintenance requests while meeting established deadlines.

Required Experience

3–5 years of experience in facilities maintenance, building maintenance, or a related skilled-trades environment.
Strong hands-on experience in several of the following areas:
Plumbing
Electrical
Carpentry
Mechanical systems
Building maintenance
Equipment maintenance
Electronics or controls
Commercial or industrial facilities experience preferred.
Commercial HVAC service or maintenance experience is a plus.
Working knowledge of applicable plumbing, electrical, building, and safety codes.
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
Ability to read and understand equipment manuals, drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.
Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities while meeting deadlines.
Comfortable working independently with minimal direct supervision.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
High school diploma or GED required.
Valid driver’s license required.
