Senior Angular / Front-End Developer

A growing technology organization is seeking a Senior Angular / Front-End Developer to join an established development team and serve as a key technical contributor in the continued evolution of its web applications. This is a highly hands-on role for someone with deep, proven Angular expertise who can work comfortably across both modern development and legacy application environments. The ideal candidate will bring strong experience building production applications with Angular, TypeScript, RxJS, JavaScript, component-based architecture, and modern frontend development practices. This role is not intended for a generalist full-stack developer who has simply worked with Angular; the team is specifically seeking someone who has made Angular a significant part of their career and can demonstrate a true depth of knowledge in the framework.

Responsibilities

Angular Development & Front-End Engineering
Design, develop, maintain, and enhance complex web applications using Angular as the primary frontend framework.
Serve as a hands-on Angular subject-matter expert and contribute to technical decisions involving frontend architecture.
Build scalable, maintainable, and reusable applications using Angular, TypeScript, JavaScript, HTML5, and CSS3.
Develop reusable Angular components, services, modules, and shared frontend functionality.
Work with Angular’s component-based architecture and modern development patterns to create maintainable applications.
Apply strong knowledge of Angular lifecycle, dependency injection, routing, forms, observables, reactive programming, and state management.
Work extensively with RxJS and other reactive programming concepts.
Evaluate and implement appropriate approaches to state management, including technologies such as NgRx, Signals, RxJS, or similar solutions.
Troubleshoot complex Angular issues and identify the root cause of application or performance problems.
Ensure applications are responsive, accessible, performant, and compatible across modern browsers.

Modernization & Legacy Development
Work across both new application development and legacy application modernization.
Help transition legacy JavaScript-based functionality into modern Angular and TypeScript architectures.
Evaluate existing frontend code and identify opportunities to improve maintainability, performance, scalability, and usability.
Refactor and modernize legacy code while maintaining application functionality and minimizing disruption.
Help establish consistent frontend patterns and standards as applications continue to evolve.
Balance the technical requirements of maintaining existing systems with the need to introduce modern development practices.
Frontend Architecture & Design Systems
Contribute to the design and evolution of scalable frontend architecture.
Help develop and maintain reusable component libraries and design systems.
Establish consistent approaches to component development, application structure, coding standards, and frontend best practices.
Participate in architectural discussions and provide technical recommendations regarding Angular and frontend technologies.
Identify opportunities to improve application performance, scalability, maintainability, and developer experience.
Evaluate modern Angular capabilities and frontend technologies and determine where they can provide meaningful value to the organization.

Development & Code Quality
Write clean, maintainable, well-tested, and scalable code.
Participate in code reviews and provide meaningful technical feedback to other developers.
Establish and follow frontend development standards and best practices.
Develop and maintain unit, integration, and end-to-end testing.
Troubleshoot complex production issues and performance bottlenecks.
Work with tools such as Angular CLI, modern build tooling, Git, and CI/CD platforms.
Monitor and troubleshoot application performance using tools such as New Relic and related monitoring technologies.

Collaboration & Technical Leadership
Work closely with Product, UX/UI, Backend Engineering, QA, and DevOps teams.
Translate business and product requirements into practical technical solutions.
Participate in technical planning, estimation, and development discussions.
Clearly communicate technical decisions, risks, and tradeoffs.
Provide technical guidance and mentorship to other frontend developers.
Participate in knowledge sharing, technical discussions, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Contribute to technical interviews, candidate evaluations, and onboarding when needed.

Required Experience

Required
5+ years of professional frontend development experience.
Deep, hands-on experience developing production applications with Angular.
Strong proficiency with Angular and TypeScript.
Strong proficiency with modern JavaScript (ES6+).
Strong understanding of Angular architecture and the ability to explain technical concepts beyond surface-level framework usage.
Strong understanding of:
Angular components and component architecture
Angular services and dependency injection
Angular routing
Angular forms
Angular lifecycle and change detection
RxJS and reactive programming
State management approaches such as NgRx, Signals, or similar technologies
TypeScript and object-oriented programming concepts
Frontend design patterns and architecture
Experience developing reusable components and shared frontend libraries.
Experience working with design systems or component libraries.
Experience modernizing or refactoring existing frontend applications.
Strong understanding of HTML5, CSS3, responsive design, and accessibility.
Experience designing and consuming RESTful APIs.
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
Experience with Git and modern CI/CD development workflows.
Strong understanding of frontend testing practices.
Ability to collaborate effectively with Product, UX/UI, QA, Backend, and DevOps tea

Preferred Experience

Experience working within a SaaS or product-focused technology environment. Experience working with a .NET backend environment. Experience with Angular CLI, Webpack, Vite, or similar modern build tooling. Experience with frontend performance optimization. Experience with New Relic or similar application monitoring tools. Experience mentoring other developers or providing technical leadership. Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
