Controls Engineer

A privately held industrial automation and systems integration organization is seeking a Controls & Automation Engineer to support the design, development, and deployment of advanced control solutions for complex manufacturing and production environments. This role focuses on building reliable, efficient, and safe automation systems while partnering closely with internal teams and external clients to deliver high-quality engineered solutions.

Responsibilities

Design, develop, install, and support industrial control systems and HMI applications
Participate in project execution from concept through commissioning
Interface with clients to gather requirements and support system design and implementation
Assist in preparing functional specifications and technical proposals
Support or lead assigned engineering projects independently or as part of a team
Provide technical guidance and training to junior engineering staff when needed
Maintain strong working relationships with internal teams and external customers
Contribute to continuous improvement of engineering processes, tools, and standards
Perform additional engineering-related duties as assigned

Required Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Industrial, or related Engineering discipline
OR Associate’s degree in a technical field plus 2+ years of relevant experience
Experience in industrial controls engineering, automation systems, or similar environment
Knowledge of PLC-based control systems and industrial automation concepts
Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and process flow diagrams (P&ID)
Familiarity with HMI development tools and industrial control software
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
Understanding of industrial safety standards and regulatory compliance requirements
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Ability to work independently and manage assigned responsibilities effectively
Must be able to pass required pre-employment screening and hold a valid driver’s license

Preferred Experience

Experience with motor controls, servo systems, sensors, and instrumentation Exposure to industrial networking and integrated automation systems Hands-on experience with AutoCAD or similar design tools Background in regulated environments such as pharmaceutical or medical device manufacturing Experience with validation protocols or GMP-compliant systems Prior exposure to quoting, estimating, or proposal development Strong troubleshooting and field commissioning experience Familiarity with structured programming for PLC platforms
