Technical Sales leader

The Technical Sales Leader is responsible for selling complex technical products or services, requiring a deep understanding of the technology, strong customer relationship building skills, and the ability to lead the team towards achieving sales targets by developing effective sales strategies and providing technical expertise to both the sales team and clients. To be effective, this role will be based within an hour of Norfolk, VA, and will report directly to the Chief Commercial Officer (CCO).

Responsibilities

Primary Responsibilities (Essential Functions)

Serves as an application champion for the shipyard and marine industry, exhibiting appropriate technical competency with knowledge of appropriate rules and regulations.
Builds market position by locating, developing, defining, and closing business relationships with key contacts.
Develops a product growth strategy focused both on financial gain and customer satisfaction.
Conducts research through events, publications, and announcements to identify new markets, industry trends, and customer needs.
Develop new sales areas and improve sales through various methods.
Arrange business meetings with prospective clients.
Must be willing to travel up to 50% of the time to visit customers, expand markets, and participate in trade shows and industry events.
Perform other reasonably related tasks as assigned by management.

Required Experience

Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Sales, Engineering, or relevant field.
7+ years of proven experience as a business development manager, sales executive, technical sales lead, or relevant role.
Exhibited success achieving sales targets, territory growth, and revenue generation.
Experience in the abrasive blasting, surface preparation and coating industry preferred.
Exceptional communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal, in order to express technical and nontechnical concepts clearly and concisely.
Technical skills required to create proposals and find solutions to meet client requirements.
Demonstrates proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Experience using a commercial based CRM system preferred.
Exhibits an entrepreneurial mindset driven by a proven track record.
Self-directed with the ability to work on multiple projects with competing priorities and deadlines.

He/she will work with other subcontractors and organize fire alarm, security, etc. He/she will coordinate with the job foreman and make sure all close out documents, time sheets and paperwork are sent back to the office. Oversees the safety of the job site and makes sure all toolbox talks are completed weekly. If there are any special safety concerns, makes owners and office aware of them.
