Senior Microsoft Cloud Engineer

Senior Microsoft Cloud Engineer – Microsoft 365 / SharePoint A leading organization is seeking a Senior Microsoft Cloud Engineer to provide advanced technical leadership across its Microsoft 365 cloud environment. This role will serve as a senior subject matter expert with a particularly strong focus on SharePoint Online engineering, Microsoft Purview, Power Platform, cloud security, automation, and emerging Microsoft technologies.

Responsibilities

Microsoft 365 Architecture & Cloud Engineering
Provide senior-level engineering and administration for Microsoft 365 cloud services, including SharePoint Online, Exchange Online, Teams, OneDrive, Entra ID, Defender, Purview, and Power Platform.
Design, configure, optimize, and manage Microsoft 365 services in accordance with security, performance, governance, and industry best practices.
Develop and maintain Microsoft 365 architecture standards, governance models, operational procedures, and technical documentation.
Provide advanced troubleshooting and escalation support for complex Microsoft 365 issues.
Develop PowerShell scripts and automation to improve operational efficiency, consistency, and reliability.
Evaluate Microsoft product roadmaps and emerging technologies and recommend enhancements, improvements, and adoption strategies.

SharePoint Online Engineering
Serve as a senior technical expert for advanced SharePoint Online architecture and solution development.
Design and implement modern SharePoint solutions, including sites, lists, libraries, metadata structures, workflows, integrations, and business-focused collaboration solutions.
Translate business requirements into scalable, secure, and user-friendly SharePoint solutions.
Develop integrations between SharePoint Online, Microsoft 365 services, Power Platform, and approved third-party applications.
Establish and maintain SharePoint development standards, governance practices, lifecycle processes, and adoption strategies.
Support the continued evolution of SharePoint as an enterprise collaboration and business solutions platform.

Microsoft Purview & Information Governance

Design, implement, and administer Microsoft Purview information governance and protection capabilities.
Develop data classification strategies, sensitivity labels, retention policies, and information lifecycle management solutions.
Design and enhance Data Loss Prevention (DLP) controls across Microsoft 365 environments.
Partner with security, privacy, legal, records management, and business stakeholders to translate governance requirements into technical solutions.
Monitor emerging Microsoft compliance capabilities and recommend improvements to data protection and governance strategies.

Power Platform & Automation
Design, develop, and support solutions using Microsoft Power Platform, including Power Apps and Power Automate.
Develop workflow automation and business process solutions integrated with Microsoft 365.
Establish Power Platform governance, security controls, development standards, and lifecycle practices.
Identify opportunities to automate manual processes and improve business productivity.

Microsoft AI & Emerging Technologies
Support the secure adoption and governance of Microsoft 365 Copilot, Copilot Studio, agents, connectors, and related Microsoft AI technologies.
Evaluate emerging Microsoft technologies and determine opportunities for responsible enterprise adoption.
Help develop standards and best practices for incorporating AI capabilities into business processes and Microsoft cloud solutions.

Technical Leadership & Collaboration
Serve as a senior technical resource and provide guidance to other IT professionals.
Independently research, evaluate, and implement complex technical solutions.
Collaborate with business and technical stakeholders to understand needs and develop effective solutions.
Communicate complex technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Manage multiple priorities while maintaining a high level of accuracy, organization, and attention to detail.

Required Experience

Qualifications & Skills
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline, along with 7+ years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and technical certifications.
Advanced experience engineering and administering enterprise Microsoft 365 environments.
Strong, hands-on experience with SharePoint Online, including modern site architecture, lists, libraries, metadata, integrations, automation, governance, and solution development.
Demonstrated experience developing solutions with Microsoft Power Platform, particularly Power Automate and Power Apps.
Experience with Microsoft Purview, including information governance, data classification, sensitivity labels, retention policies, and DLP.
Strong knowledge of Microsoft Entra ID, authentication, Conditional Access, MFA, and Microsoft cloud security practices.
Advanced PowerShell scripting and automation experience.
Experience integrating Microsoft 365 services and developing scalable cloud-based solutions.
Knowledge of Microsoft 365 Copilot and emerging Microsoft AI technologies is highly desirable.
Ability to independently research, analyze, design, and implement complex technical solutions.
Strong problem-solving, analytical, and critical-thinking skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to explain complex technical concepts to business stakeholders and leadership.
Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities and projects.
Demonstrated ability to think strategically while maintaining strong attention to technical details.
Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams.
Pennsylvania residency required.
Hybrid work environment with a minimum of one day per week onsite.
Participation in an on-call rotation is required.
