Payroll Systems and Compliance Manager

Innovative organization seeking an experienced workforce operations professional to oversee enterprise payroll systems support, compliance initiatives, operational governance, and process improvement efforts across multiple business units.

Responsibilities

Serve as a primary internal resource for enterprise payroll operations and workforce systems support.
Provide guidance on payroll compliance, operational best practices, and process governance.
Support complex payroll scenarios, escalated operational issues, and multi-state compliance matters.
Troubleshoot and support workforce management systems, payroll platforms, and timekeeping applications.
Identify opportunities for operational improvements, workflow enhancements, and process standardization.
Collaborate with HR, Finance, and technical teams to support systems integrations and organizational growth initiatives.
Assist with onboarding new business units, acquisitions, or operational transitions into existing payroll processes.
Develop training materials and provide ongoing guidance to operational and administrative teams.
Support audits, reporting requirements, and special operational projects as needed.
Analyze payroll and workforce data to identify trends, risks, and process improvement opportunities.
Maintain accurate documentation related to operational procedures and compliance standards.

Required Experience

8+ years of experience supporting payroll operations, workforce systems, or HR operations within a multi-entity environment.
Strong knowledge of payroll compliance, tax regulations, and operational controls.
Hands-on experience supporting enterprise payroll and workforce management systems.
Experience supporting timekeeping, attendance tracking, and leave management processes.
Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving abilities.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and work collaboratively across departments.
Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
Experience supporting operational process improvements and systems enhancements.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment.

Preferred Experience

Professional payroll or HR systems certification preferred. Experience supporting enterprise software implementations, upgrades, or integrations. Background working within decentralized or multi-division organizational structures preferred. Previous experience supporting large-scale operational compliance initiatives. Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, human resources, or related field preferred.

Oversees the safety of the job site and makes sure all toolbox talks are completed weekly. If there are any special safety concerns, makes owners and office aware of them.
