HR Generalist

The HR Generalist will be responsible for supporting a wide range of HR functions including talent acquisition, pay and benefit administration, payroll support, leave management, and compliance. This role will require a dedicated and proactive partner that will play a crucial role in fostering a positive and productive work environment, while collaborating closely with team members to ensure HR practices are compliant.

Responsibilities

Reviews, tracks, and documents compliance with mandatory and non-mandatory training, continuing education, and work assessments. This may include safety training, anti-harassment training, professional licensures, and aptitude certifications.
Serves as a Subject Matter Expert for HRIS, partnering with managers and leaders to maintain appropriate employee data, increase self-service use, and train on new programs.
Identifies data gap issues within systems and resolves in a timely manner.
Reviews and submits invoices to be processed for payment.
Assists with any payroll questions / issues to support accurate and timely processing of weekly and biweekly payroll, including partnership with union and union-adjacent contacts.
Supports the VP of Human Resources with talent acquisition initiatives, including job description creation, interview coordination, candidate screening, and new employee onboarding.
Facilitates pre-employment background checks and drug screens, communicating results to the appropriate team members.
Coordinates benefit enrollment and answers employee questions as they come up. Work with external carriers to communicate enrollment and resolve issues.
Serves as a valued HR team member and point of contact for employees on HR-related inquiries, working with employees to ensure resolution.
Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices.

State and federal leave requirements
Interview scheduling
Talent management
HR policies
Provides general administrative support to team as needed. Activities could include mail delivery, meeting coordination, org chart creations, etc.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Bachelor’s degree in HR, Business Administration, or related field.
At least 2 years of HR experience in similar industry.
Prior experience managing and administering leave and benefits.
Proven ability to quickly learn new systems with ability to apply new knowledge and recommend solutions to challenges as they arise.
Excellent organizational skill with great attention to detail.
Exceptional time management skills with proven ability to meet deadlines.
Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate.
Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
Track record of effectively working with internal/external customers.
High proficiency with Microsoft Office suite including Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams, and PowerPoint
