Electrical Estimator – Commercial Construction

We are looking for an experienced Electrical Estimator to join a growing commercial electrical construction team. This is an opportunity for someone who understands the estimating process from the ground up and can confidently take commercial electrical projects from plans and specifications through a complete, competitive bid. The right person will have strong knowledge of electrical construction, be comfortable working with drawings and takeoffs, and know how to put together an estimate that is both accurate and practical.

Responsibilities

Review electrical drawings, specifications, scopes of work, bid documents, and project requirements.
Perform detailed material and labor takeoffs for commercial electrical projects.
Develop complete and accurate estimates for labor, materials, equipment, subcontracted work, and other project costs.
Solicit, obtain, and evaluate pricing from vendors, suppliers, and subcontractors.
Review subcontractor and vendor proposals to ensure scope is complete and pricing is competitive.
Identify project exclusions, scope gaps, potential risks, and items that may affect project cost.
Prepare competitive bids and proposals in accordance with project requirements and bid deadlines.
Review addenda, drawing revisions, and changes throughout the bidding process and adjust estimates as needed.
Work with project management and operations teams to ensure a smooth transition from estimating to construction on awarded projects.
Assist with reviewing project budgets, labor requirements, and material requirements as needed.
Maintain organized estimating documentation and records.
Develop and maintain relationships with vendors, subcontractors, general contractors, and other industry partners.
Participate in pre-bid meetings, site visits, and other project meetings when appropriate.
Manage multiple estimates and competing deadlines while maintaining a high level of accuracy.
Stay current on material pricing, labor conditions, construction practices, and market trends that may affect project estimates.

Required Experience

3+ years of experience estimating commercial electrical construction projects.
Strong knowledge of commercial electrical construction, materials, installation methods, and labor requirements.
Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, blueprints, specifications, and construction documents.
Experience performing electrical takeoffs and developing labor and material estimates.
Experience soliciting and evaluating vendor and subcontractor pricing.
Familiarity with electrical estimating and construction takeoff software.
Strong mathematical and analytical skills with excellent attention to detail.
Ability to identify discrepancies, omissions, and potential risks within project documents.
Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects and bid deadlines.
Excellent communication and follow-up skills.
Ability to work collaboratively with project managers, field personnel, vendors, subcontractors, and customers.
Commercial electrical field experience is a plus.
Experience with a variety of commercial construction projects is preferred.
Ability to work independently, make sound decisions, and take ownership of the estimating process.
