Commercial Drywall Foreman

We are working with an established commercial construction company to identify an experienced Drywall Foreman to lead field crews on commercial projects. This is a hands-on leadership position for someone who understands drywall installation from layout through finish and can keep crews productive, projects moving, and work performed safely and to a high standard. The ideal candidate is a strong field leader who knows how to read plans, coordinate with other trades, manage materials and manpower, and hold a crew accountable for quality, productivity, and schedule.

Responsibilities

Lead and supervise commercial drywall crews on active construction projects.
Plan daily and weekly work activities based on project schedules, drawings, specifications, and site conditions.
Assign work to crew members based on project priorities, skill levels, and manpower requirements.
Provide clear direction and expectations to employees and subcontracted personnel.
Read and interpret architectural drawings, reflected ceiling plans, details, specifications, and other construction documents.
Coordinate drywall activities with general contractors, project superintendents, project managers, and other trades.
Monitor production and ensure work is progressing according to established schedules.
Perform and oversee layout for walls, ceilings, openings, framing, and related drywall systems.
Oversee installation of metal framing, drywall, backing, insulation, and related systems as applicable to the project.
Inspect completed work to ensure it meets project specifications, quality standards, and applicable building requirements.
Identify deficiencies, conflicts, or changes in field conditions and communicate them promptly to project leadership.
Coordinate material deliveries and ensure crews have the tools and materials necessary to maintain productivity.
Monitor material usage and help minimize waste.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
Enforce company and project safety requirements and address unsafe practices immediately.
Participate in toolbox talks, safety meetings, and other project meetings as required.
Track manpower, production, work progress, and other field information.
Assist project management with scheduling, estimating, change-order documentation, and field conditions when needed.
Train, coach, and develop less experienced employees and help maintain a productive and professional crew.
Work with project leadership to address schedule challenges, manpower needs, quality concerns, and other field issues.
Maintain strong working relationships with customers, general contractors, subcontractors, and other trades.
Perform hands-on drywall work when necessary to support the crew and keep the project moving.

Required Experience

5+ years of commercial drywall experience, with demonstrated experience leading crews.
Previous experience as a Drywall Foreman, Leadman, Superintendent, or similar field leadership position.
Strong knowledge of commercial drywall installation, metal framing, ceilings, and related construction practices.
Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and project documents.
Strong understanding of commercial construction sequencing and coordination between trades.
Ability to plan daily work and effectively manage manpower and materials.
Demonstrated ability to maintain productivity while meeting quality and schedule expectations.
Strong understanding of construction safety practices and jobsite requirements.
Ability to identify field issues and communicate effectively with project leadership.
Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
Ability to hold employees accountable while maintaining a positive and productive work environment.
Strong organizational and time-management skills.
Ability to work independently and make sound decisions in the field.
Reliable transportation and the ability to travel to active commercial jobsites as required.
OSHA or other relevant construction safety training is a plus.

Preferred Experience

We’re looking for a working Foreman—not someone who simply assigns work and walks away. The right person will know drywall construction well enough to recognize problems before they become expensive issues and will be comfortable jumping in alongside the crew when necessary. At the same time, they need to be able to step back and lead—planning the work, coordinating with other trades, managing manpower, and keeping everyone focused on the schedule. Strong communication and accountability are important. The Foreman will be the link between the crew and project leadership, so we need someone who communicates clearly, follows through, and takes ownership of the work. A strong candidate will take pride in the quality of the finished product, care about the people working around them, and understand that productivity and safety go hand in hand.
