Business Development

The Business Development Manager will identify, develop, and secure new business opportunities for the product portfolio within the industry.

Responsibilities

• Strategic Business Development: Develop and execute strategic business development plans to achieve sales targets and expand market share for products.
• Market Analysis: Conduct thorough market research to identify emerging trends, customer needs, and competitive landscape within the technology sector of the waterworks industry.
• Lead Generation & Qualification: Proactively identify and qualify new leads through various channels, including networking, industry events, referrals, and direct outreach.
• Relationship Building: Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with key decision-makers, including municipal engineers, public works officials, contractors, consultants, and other relevant stakeholders within the waterworks industry.
• Product Knowledge: Develop and maintain a comprehensive understanding of product offerings, their applications, and their value propositions.
• Sales Presentations & Proposals: Prepare and deliver compelling sales presentations, product demonstrations, and tailored proposals that effectively communicate the benefits of our solutions. Speaking engagements at industry tradeshows, seminars, conferences and events.
• Negotiation & Closing: Effectively negotiate pricing, terms, and contracts to close new business deals and achieve revenue goals.
• Account Management (Initial Phase): Manage and nurture newly acquired accounts to ensure successful implementation and long-term satisfaction, facilitating a smooth transition to the dedicated account management team (if applicable).
• Collaboration: Work closely with internal teams, including sales, marketing, technical support, and product management, to ensure seamless customer experience and successful project delivery.
• Industry Engagement: Attend industry conferences, trade shows, and networking events to build relationships, stay informed about market trends, and represent the company.
• Reporting & Forecasting: Maintain accurate records of sales activities, pipeline development, and sales forecasts. Provide regular reports on progress against targets to management.
• Travel: Willingness to travel extensively within the assigned territory to meet with clients, attend industry events, and pursue business opportunities.

Required Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Civil, Environmental, Electrical, Mechanical), Business Administration, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of proven business development or sales experience within the waterworks industry, with a strong focus on products (e.g., AMI/AMR systems, leak detection, pressure management, remote monitoring, IoT solutions).
• Demonstrated track record of successfully achieving and exceeding sales targets in the waterworks sector.
• An existing book of business and established relationships with key stakeholders within the waterworks industry (municipalities, contractors, engineers, etc.) are highly preferred.
• Strong understanding of the technical aspects and applications of Water technologies.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, presentation, and negotiation skills.
• Ability to understand and articulate complex technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Proven ability to build and maintain strong, long-lasting customer relationships.
• Self-motivated, results-oriented, and able to work independently.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.
• Proficiency in CRM software and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to travel extensively
