My shining star is celebrating her 10th year anniversary with SGC this month. In our industry, that is an extraordinary accomplishment. In ANY industry, for that matter! Ten years of loyalty, dedication, hard work and pride of ownership – she is simply the best.
Ali Weiand and I met over ten years ago over lunch to see if we thought we were a match. We had such similar backgrounds as IT recruiters in a very male-dominated industry – had even worked for the same people (though not at the same time). I knew within three minutes I wanted her to work for me.
I like to joke about how Ali and I are twins separated at birth. She is tall, blonde, slender, gorgeous! I am…well…let’s just say those features alone confirm we aren’t twins after all.
However, in the IT recruiting world, we couldn’t be more alike. There isn’t a decision she makes I wouldn’t support. As my Vice President, Ali expertly runs my company, mentors my employees, and leads my team to places I never thought possible.
As the founder and owner of SGC, I never thought I would be able to “let go”…allow someone else to make the tough decisions, run my company on a day-to-day basis, or determine how to take it to the next level. Once I had the confidence to get out of her way, my life has never been the same. I’d say my life as the owner of SGC is pretty darn perfect.
Ali and I aren’t just business associates; we are family. Her three boys and husband, Josh, are as important to me as anyone I know. The extent of appreciation I have for her ten years of commitment to something I started is something I can’t put into words.
The amount of respect I have for her treating this business as her own is unending. I am a very, very lucky person to have Ali steering my ship, and I can’t wait to see where she takes it in the next 10 years! Happy, Happy Anniversary, Ali!
